First make sure what is sucking the juice
go to settings> About Phone> Battery Use. This will give you the list of the apps and processes that are sucking Juice out of your battery. Applications and features will be displayed in the list of descending order of battery consumption. If you find a app that you don't use or feature that you barely get through uninstall them or turn them off.
Turn unnecessary hardware off
Todays phones have tons of hardware like GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth etc. But the question is do you need all these turned on for 24 hours a day. Android keeps its location based apps run in background that constantly drains your juices.
Set Brightness display to auto adjust
Turning down brightness is quite obvious, the lowering of brightness alone helps lot in enhancing your battery life. Activating automatic brightness will allow phone to reduce brightness in darker environment and well lit indoor rooms.
Remove unnecessary home screen widgets
Even if they are sitting on home screen inactively that doesn't mean that they are not taking their part in draining your juices. For Ex. live wallpaper or poll status updates.
Keep a eye on the signal strength
If you live in a area where signal strength is quite lower than your phone will be doing more work to catch stronger cellular signal. This gives an adverse effect on the battery life. There nothing much you can do about this but this is also one of the main reason behind the battery drainage.
